Piedras Negras, Coah.- Para que el adulto mayor esté lo más sano posible en esta etapa de su vida, el IMSS ha elaborado una guía de la salud en la que destaca una buena alimentación, realizar actividad física y tener convivencia de
esparcimiento.
El Seguro Social precisa que el envejecimiento es un proceso natural, dinámico, irreversible, progresivo y universal que se inicia desde el momento mismo en que nacemos, por lo que ningún ser humano está exento
de envejecer.
Subraya que se han logrado aumentar los años de vida conservando su funcionalidad física y mental, su autonomía y su independencia y existen un gran número de posibilidades para vivir la vida con amor, gratitud, optimismo e intensidad.
Por ello, es importante realizar actividad física, caminar diariamente, practicar yoga, bailar: Cuidarse asimismo los pies, la piel, los ojos, los oídos y vigilar
su salud bucal.
Además se debe de comer en forma saludable, preparando los alimentos en forma balanceada, usar sal y azúcar con moderación, preferir alimentos asados en lugar de fritos, aumenta la cantidad de fibra u beber suficiente agua.
Para mejorar la memoria se recomienda juegos para este fin, practicar la lectura, utilizar recordatorios o notas, retener datos, anotar citas importantes en
calendario personal.
La prevención de accidentes es otro de los puntos importantes, por lo que se recomienda mantener los muebles y las cosas en orden, tener cuidado que los pisos no sean resbalosos ni tengan bordes, tomar con firmeza y protección los recipientes calientes, evitar aglomeraciones y fijarse bien donde se pisa.
Respecto al uso de medicamentos se sugiere usar un pastillero para el control de la toma de los medicamentos, mismos que no deben ser compartidos con otras personas y se deben conservar en lugares adecuados, no exponerlos al calor y revisar fechas de caducidad. La auto medicación debe evitarse.
A los adultos mayores se les recomienda tener convivencia con más personas, pedir conseguir, participar en pláticas, animar a los demás, y para ello el IMSS cuenta con espacios especiales para mañanas o tardes de encuentros y de entretenimiento.
