La cafeína proveniente del café es parte del grupo de las sustancias denominadas «xantinas», cuyo efecto principal es el de estimular el sistema de alerta o de preparación para la acción en el cuerpo humano. Muchas veces, las personas amantes del café han sido alertadas acerca de los efectos adversos que ocasiona tomar café, pero los beneficios de su uso moderado no son conocidos con amplitud.
Propiedades anticancerígenas
De acuerdo al Breast Cancer Research (Investigación del Cáncer de Seno) en Estocolmo-Suecia, se ha establecido que tomar café disminuye las probabilidades de padecer cáncer de mama. Sin embargo, los expertos no recomiendan comenzar a tomar café a las personas que no tienen el hábito. Lo que se recomienda es evitar el consumo de alcohol, tener una dieta saludable y practicar ejercicio.
Protección a tu hígado
Algunos estudios afirman que el consumo moderado da café (2 a 4 tazas por día) es benéfico por que protege al hígado de enfermedades como la cirrosis o el cáncer. Posiblemente este efecto se deba a las propiedades antioxidantes que posee este grano.
Protección a la próstata
Otra vez se ha descubierto que el café tiene propiedades anti cancerígenas, esta vez sobre la próstata. Aunque algunos científicos opinan que el consumo de café debe ser moderado, otros sostienen que se debe llegar a un número de cinco tazas al día para lograr los efectos benéficos deseados.
Previene la enfermedad de Alzheimer
Nuevamente, gracias sus propiedades antioxidantes mediante los flavonoides, el café tiene la propiedad de disminuir la probabilidad de padecer de Alzheimer, además de retrasar los efectos de esta enfermedad. De manera que, como muchos estudiantes saben, el café es un aliado para la memoria.
En contra de la depresión
Otro efecto importante que los científicos han descubierto es la capacidad del café de disminuir los sentimientos negativos en las personas que sufren de depresión. Se trata de un efecto similar al del chocolate, el cual también pertenece a las sustancias llamadas «xantinas».
Disminuye los efectos del Parkinson
Se sabe que el café estimula las habilidades motoras facilitando, en pequeña medida, la capacidad de transmisión nerviosa de los impulsos motores. Algunos médicos dicen que puede este efecto es poco significativo, pero puede representar una gran diferencia en las personas que padecen de este mal.
En contra de la diabetes
Según estudios recientes se ha descrito que el café sería beneficioso previniendo la diabetes. Gracias a su capacidad de estimular la producción de insulina, el café se convierte en una sustancia que estimula el buen funcionamiento del páncreas. En este caso, se dice que aún tomándolo sin cafeína, el café se convierte en un aliado en contra de este mal.
Disminuye el dolor de cabeza
Muchos medicamentos en contra de las migrañasincluyen a la cafeína en su composición. Se sabe que la cafeína logra disminuir el calibre de las arterias cerebrales, logrando un alivio a la presión cerebral interna y por lo tanto al dolor de cabeza.
Ayuda a tu corazón
Esta vez, el órgano favorecido con los efectos benéficos del café es el corazón. Como se mencionó antes, el efecto antioxidante del café esta vez protege a las células cardíacas mediante anulación de los dañinos efectos de los radicales libres que ocasionan el envejecimiento en las personas.
Estudiar
Muchas personas han descubierto el beneficioso efecto del café para permanecer despierto y estudiar «unas horas más». Mientras que algunas personas se han quejado de padecer gastritis debido al café y al estrés del estudio, se dice que debemos buscar el café más tostado puesto que tiene menor probabilidad de producir este efecto en el estómago.
