Jiddu Krishnamurti es considerado uno de los filósofos modernos más importantes. Nació en la India en 1895 y fue adoptado y criado por Charles Leadbeater, dentro de la Sociedad Teosófica Mundial, quien descubrió en él a un líder espiritual en potencia. Sus escritos no tienen conexión con ninguna religión ni pertenecen a Occidente u Oriente, sino que son globales. Por eso renunció a dicha Sociedad pronunciando un discurso que se hizo famoso por afirmar que “la verdad es una tierra sin caminos a la cual resulta imposible aproximarse mediante una religión filosófica o secta convencional.” Bajo su línea de pensamiento, el ser humano que vive buscando permanentemente la seguridad, está atrapado entre el pasado y el futuro, sin saber que así se pierde lo que efectivamente es: el ahora. Es así como Krishnamurti descubre en la meditación una herramienta para salir de aquel escenario. Murió en California, Estados Unidos, a los 90 años. Aquí, 10 enseñanzas de su valioso legado.
La meditación para llegar al ser
Según Jiddu Krishnamurti meditar es vaciar de contenido la conciencia. Y no importa cómo meditar, según qué prácticas hacerlo, sino lo que la meditación es en sí misma. «Si uno puede descubrir, muy profundamente, la significación, la necesidad y la importancia que la meditación tiene para uno mismo entonces descartará todos los sistemas, los métodos, los gurús, junto con todas las cosas peculiares que se hallan involucradas en el tipo oriental de meditación.» Para el pensador, es muy importante «descubrir por uno mismo lo que se «es» en realidad, no de acuerdo con las teorías y las aseveraciones y las experiencias de los psicólogos, filósofos y gurús, sino por la investigación de toda la naturaleza y el movimiento de uno mismo, por el ver qué es uno realmente».
No hay camino hacia la verdad
según esta línea de pensamiento, la verdad es única y no hay camino que conduzca a ella, sino que es la verdad la que debe llegar a uno. Solo puede hacerlo cuando la mente y el corazón tienen claridad: “cuando hay amor en el corazón y no está lleno de las cosas de la mente, no se habla de organizarse y formar una hermandad, no se habla de creencias, no se habla de división o de las fuerzas que crean división, no se busca reconciliación”. Este pensamiento se orienta a ser un ser sencillo y despojarse de etiquetas, patrias, porque eso permite que la verdad se manifieste, que solo puede hacerlo cuando la mente está vacía, cuando deja de inventar cosas y se permite que llegue sin que se la invite. “Llega tan rápida como el viento, inadvertida. Llega secretamente, y no cuando uno mira y desea. De repente está allí tan rápidamente como la luz, tan pura como la noche; pero para recibirla el corazón debe estar lleno, y la mente vacía. Ahora tiene la mente llena y su corazón está vacío».
El amor
Las reflexiones de Jiddu Krishnamurti acerca del amor son tan intensas y universales que vale la pena, simplemente, citar algunas de ellas. “En el amor no hay pérdida de energía. La pérdida de energía está en los celos, el afán posesivo, las sospechas, las dudas, el miedo de perder ese amor, la constante exigencia de garantía y seguridad. El amor en la relación es un proceso purificador, puesto que revela las modalidades del yo. Sin esta revelación, la relación muy poco significa».
Las Organizaciones
Para él la verdad es ilimitada, incondicionada, inabordable por ningún camino, y por lo tanto no puede ser organizada. Y todo intento de organización para conducir a la gente se convierte en algo que se aleja de la verdad. “Si desde el principio entienden eso, entonces verán cuán imposible es organizar una creencia. Una creencia es un asunto puramente individual, no pueden ni deben organizarla. Si lo hacen, se torna en algo muerto, cristalizado; se convierte en un credo, una secta, una religión que ha de imponerse a los demás. La Verdad se empequeñece y se transforma en un juguete para los débiles, para los que están sólo momentáneamente descontentos”.
Lo conocido versus lo desconocido
El pensador dice que nos aferramos a lo conocido y tenemos miedo a lo desconocido. Por esta razón hemos separado vida de muerte, situando la muerte al final de la vida y ubicándola lo más lejos posible. “Ahora bien, ¿a qué llamamos vida? Ganar dinero, ir a la oficina de 9 a 5, trabajar duro en un laboratorio, en una fábrica, ese interminable conflicto, el miedo, la ansiedad, la soledad, la desesperación, la depresión; a toda esa forma de existencia llamamos vida. Nos aferramos a eso, pero ¿es eso vivir?”.
La relación con la naturaleza
Krishnamurti analiza la manera en que el hombre destruye a la naturaleza sin darse cuenta de que así se aleja de sí mismo. “La muerte de un árbol es belleza, a diferencia de la del hombre. Un árbol muerto en el desierto, desprovisto de su corteza, curtido por el sol y el viento, con todas sus ramas desnudas abiertas a los cielos, es una vista maravillosa. Se cortan grandes secuoyas de cientos y cientos de años en unos minutos para hacer vallas, sillas, construir casas o abonar la tierra del jardín. Aparecen vehículos y rascacielos en los sitios más inesperados. Cuando uno pierde su relación con la naturaleza y los cielos abiertos, pierde la relación con los demás seres humanos».
El error de tratar la vida como un problema
Jiddu Krishnamurti sugiere mirar la vida como un enorme movimiento. A veces, la enviciada costumbre de querer solucionar, nos lleva a tratar la vida como un problema. Ante esto, el pensador reflexiona: “Deben observar el vasto movimiento de la vida, no sólo su propia vida, sino la vida de toda la humanidad, la vida de la tierra, la vida de los árboles, la vida de todo el mundo, mirar, observar, moverse con eso. Si tratan la vida como un problema, generarán más problemas».
El miedo
Para Jiddu Krishnamurti la fuente del mido son el tiempo y el pensamiento. El ayer, el hoy y el mañana introducen el miedo: “Tengo miedo de que mañana suceda algo, de que pierda mi trabajo, de que mi esposa o esposo me abandone, de que el dolor o la enfermedad que tuve hace unos días regrese”. Tenemos miedo a no poder realizar algún deseo, miedo a la muerte. Así se entrelazan tiempo y pensamiento generando miedo: “Si no hay pensamiento, no hay tiempo. Pensar en eso que sucedió ayer, tener miedo a que pueda repetirse mañana, eso es lo que genera el tiempo y también el miedo”. Pero Krishnamurti dice que se puede finalizar con eso y que no es solo para los iluminados. “Se puede terminar con el miedo si se pone el cerebro, el corazón, completamente, no sólo una parte. Entonces verá por sí mismo la enorme belleza que hay en ello, esa sensación de total libertad».
La humanidad
Una de las enseñanzas más ricas de Krishnamurti es su concepción de la humanidad. “No existe el pensar individual. La consciencia de uno es la consciencia del resto de la humanidad”. Este pensamiento humanitario hace reflexionar y genera una unidad inconsciente con todos los demás hombres: “Tanto en el este como en el oeste es así. Puede que no le guste, puede que piense que es completamente independiente, un individuo libre, pero si lo observa con detenimiento, uno es el resto de la humanidad».
El amor como camino para una nueva sociedad
Según este pensamiento el amor es esencial. Cuando lo hay, el problema es simple y cuando no, el problema se vuelve complejo. “Para que surja a la existencia una sociedad nueva, una nueva cultura, es obvio que no puede haber dominación, ni de parte del hombre ni de parte de la mujer. La dominación existe a causa de la pobreza interna. Sólo el sentimiento de afecto, la calidez del amor, pueden dar origen a un nuevo estado, a una nueva cultura». Finalmente, Krishnamurti sostiene que el corazón debe prevalecer sobre la mente: «La mente no puede cultivar el corazón, pero cuando el proceso de la mente es comprendido, el amor se manifiesta».
