Los empleados que trabajan en oficinas con ventanas duermen más y mejor de noche, son físicamente más activos y tienen una mayor calidad de vida que los que trabajan en oficinas sin ventanas, según un estudio dado a conocer en la última reunión anual de la Asociación de Sociedades Profesionales del Sueño (Associated Professional Sleep Societies, en inglés).
La investigación incluyó a 49 empleados de oficina que trabajaban de día, 22 de ellos en oficinas con ventanas y otros 27 en estancias sin ventanas. Los que se emplazaban en oficinas con ventanas recibieron un 173% más exposición a la luz blanca durante el horario laboral, y durmieron un promedio de 46 minutos más por noche que los que desempeñaban su trabajo en habitáculos sin ventanas.
«Hasta qué punto la exposición a la luz del día afecta a los empleados de oficinas resulta sorprendente», explica Ivy Cheung, de la Universidad de Northwestern, coautora del estudio. El diseño arquitectónico de las oficinas debería tener en cuenta que el bienestar de los empleados podría aumentar con la exposición a la luz natural del día.
