Sin embargo, la mayor\u00eda de las personas con s\u00edndrome de Down tienen una copia adicional (o tercera) del cromosoma 21. Teniendo esta copia extra del cromosoma 21 cambia el cuerpo y el desarrollo normal del cerebro.<\/p>\n<p>En la mayor\u00eda de los casos de s\u00edndrome de Down es causado por un error aleatorio en la divisi\u00f3n celular que ocurre durante la formaci\u00f3n del \u00f3vulo de la madre o del espermatozoide del padre.
